Hey Pals,
So just last Thursday, Barack Obama and Mike Huckabee emerged as their parties front runners out of the Iowa caucus. Well, guess what?
The people of New Hampshire chose DIFFERENT people as their preferred party nominee, and those people are
Hillary Clinton (D) and
John McCain (R)! Can you believe it?
I can. I mean, it's not uncommon for these two states to disagree on who would be the best Presidential nominee. And neither of them have that strong track record of picking the winners. So it's a good thing there are 48 other states to help them decide! Hah!
Since last week I linked to Obama and Hucakabee's stance on abortion, today I'm going to be hooking you up with Clinton and McCain's stances.
Without further ado....
McCain via On the Issues
-Supports repealing Roe v. Wade. (May 2007)
-Voted YES on barring HHS grants to organizations that perform abortions. (Oct 2007)
-Voted YES on expanding research to more embryonic stem cell lines. (Apr 2007)
-Voted YES on notifying parents of minors who get out-of-state abortions. (Jul 2006)
-Voted NO on $100M to reduce teen pregnancy by education & contraceptives. (Mar 2005)
-Voted YES on criminal penalty for harming unborn fetus during other crime. (Mar 2004)
-Voted YES on banning partial birth abortions except for maternal life. (Mar 2003)
-Voted YES on maintaining ban on Military Base Abortions. (Jun 2000)
-Voted YES on banning partial birth abortions. (Oct 1999)
-Voted YES on banning human cloning. (Feb 1998)
-Rated 0% by NARAL, indicating a pro-life voting record. (Dec 2003)
- Rated 75% by the NRLC, indicating a mixed record on abortion. (Dec 2006)
Hillary via On the Issues
-Voted liberal line on partial birth & harm to fetus. (Oct 2005)
-Voted YES on expanding research to more embryonic stem cell lines. (Apr 2007)
-Voted NO on notifying parents of minors who get out-of-state abortions. (Jul 2006)
-Voted YES on $100M to reduce teen pregnancy by education & contraceptives. (Mar 2005)
-Voted NO on criminal penalty for harming unborn fetus during other crime. (Mar 2004)
-Voted NO on banning partial birth abortions except for maternal life. (Mar 2003)
-Recommended by EMILY's List of pro-choice women. (Apr 2001)
-Rated 100% by NARAL, indicating a pro-choice voting record. (Dec 2003)
-Rated 0% by the NRLC, indicating a pro-choice stance. (Dec 2006)
-Provide emergency contraception at military facilities. (Apr 2007)
The bottom line is that Clinton is significantly more Pro-Choice (Pro-Choicier?) than McCain.
Again, there really is no true front-runner at this point, so you can still vote for the person you think will best represent you. Hooray!
