10 Things Everyone Should Know About Norm Coleman
Norm Coleman’s record has shown his complete disregard for the health and rights of women.

1. Norm Coleman has a 100% voting record with both the National Right to Life Committee and the Christian Coalition, indicating a fervently anti-choice position.

2.  Coleman voted in favor of the Federal Abortion Ban, which was constitutionally flawed, lacked health exceptions, and imposed criminal penalties on doctors.

3. Coleman voted to defund family planning clinics by denying all federal health grants to any health center that provides abortion care with other funds.

4. Coleman voted against repealing the Global Gag Rule, which denies U.S. assistance to any overseas health clinic that uses its own private funds to provide or counsel about abortion care, or take any pro-choice position.

5. Coleman voted in favor of restricting the use of Indian Health Service (IHS) funds to perform abortions, except in cases of rape or incest, or if the life of the woman is endangered. This was a politically motivated amendment that did nothing more than duplicate current law under the Hyde Amendment.

6. Coleman voted against funding to reduce teen pregnancy through education & access to contraceptives. He also voted against increased funding and access to family planning services, and legislation that requires equitable prescription coverage for contraceptives under health plans.

7. Coleman voted to confirm justice Samuel Alito, a judge who believes that Roe v. Wade should be overturned.

8. Coleman voted for the "Unborn Child" Regulation that allows states to make an embryo or fetus - but not a pregnant woman - eligible for health-care coverage. The amendment was an effort to further erode the legal framework for abortion rights by recognizing an embryo, from the moment of conception, as a separate beneficiary of government programs.

9. Coleman voted in favor of ensuring that our bankruptcy laws protect those who commit violent acts against abortion clinics.

10. Norm Coleman is too close to President Bush.  He referred to George W. Bush as, God's answer to our prayers, and consistently supports Bush's policies.

Bottom line: Norm Coleman is not a moderate. He is no friend to women and if elected, he will toe the line of the anti-choice hardliners.
